Crochet vs Knitting
Crochet and knitting are two of the most common crafts that use yarn.
They share some terminology and have both common and distinct characteristics.
Needles:
In crocheting, a single hook is used. You manipulate one stitch at a time with your hook and can create flat or 3D creations with it.
In knitting, you use two or more needles to manipulate the stitches. There are also variations that combine the two crafts, such as Tunisian crochet (where you can work more stitches with one hook) or knooking (knitting with a crochet hook). Often, you can find patterns where crochet stitches imitate knitting stitches.
Yarn usage:
Crochet projects usually require more yarn due to more complicated and textured stitches.
Knitting stitches are more knot-like and, therefore, use less yarn.
Calories burned:
While crocheting, you can burn about 100โ150 calories per hour.
While knitting, it would be around 80โ100 calories per hour.
